Snow

As we in the Carolinas endure yet another day of near or above 90 degree temperatures and no rain (we've been under mandatory water restrictions for a while - we're behind something like 12 inches of rain for the year) - I start to wonder if I'll ever need socks or a sweater ever again.

Just when I started feeling like it's always been this hot and will continue to be this hot forever, this photo popped up on my computer:

I took it in February of 2004 to e-mail to my family to show them my new car. They all thought the car was lovely and told me so.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this chilling moment with you - just looking at this photo cools me off. OR, maybe it's the fact that our 16 year old son just got his driver's license that is sending this chill down my spine.

Work in Progress

Just a quick post today to prove to myself that I actually have been working.

Here's the current status of the piece (one of the pieces from my Canvas Journal Page series) that I showed previously during my stamping tutorial. Obviously, the stamping I did is just one element of the piece. I still need to finish it up and paint a background to mount it on, so pretend the concrete floor isn't there, ok? I'll post the finished piece when it's completely done, too.

I'll also been playing around in Photoshop Elements. I've had it on my computer for several months, but hadn't taken the time to explore it. While creating the Italy button on the right (go ahead, click on the pretty Italy button on the right hand size of your screen and sign up to meet me in Italy next June - I'll wait here for you while you do that.................no, really, I'll wait........................OK, back now? isn't Italy going to be fantastic???), what was I talking about? cappuccino? Tuscany? oh, that's right, Photoshop, thanks for reminding me. While I was creating that button I realized how much fun I could have with my photographs, using them in ways that I'd never thought of before.

Here's part of a piece I'm working on - it started as a photo I took of my son while we were waiting in line to get into the capitol in Washington DC earlier this year - which explains the wooly scarf and the alpaca hat. Oh c'mon use your imagination: they are there ;-)

I'm having a great time playing with fabric choices for around each photo and am about done constructing the top. Then I'll need to decide whether the whole thing gets a border or not, or whether I'm just going to quilt and bind it, or...... I haven't auditioned any border fabric options yet. I think I'll go play with fabric now. I'll try to remember to post the finished piece later.

By the way, it's embarrassing but true: I didn't even realize, until I took these photographs and saw them on my computer, that these 2 pieces are pretty much the same blue, green, and russet colors. Yeah, I know, how observant of me.

Clean Windows and Glass

I went upstairs to find out what was making that thumping noise..........Yeah! Clean windows!

Which in a strange but yet logical way reminded me to clean the glass on these pieces and get a photo loaded - several of you have asked me what people were looking at during the last Open House. Here they are:

These are painted and collaged canvases. I call them Urban Landscapes 1-9. I'm happy with them.
